Friends,

Let's meet and make our voices heard the weekend of January 17 to the 19th and beyond!

Dear Haitian-Americans and Haitian nationals all over the United States,

We have been very active during the elections. Let's keep the momentum! Let's tell the Obama-Biden administration our dreams and hopes. Haitians all over, le'ts open our homes, our churches, our community centers, business offices, university campuses, or any feasible doors, to plan, assess, and contribute to the change that is being made today in the United States of America.

This land has been our land also since the Puritans went to purchase our African ancestors in the Caribbean and could have brought us here as slaves in New England; since the father of scholars like W.E. B Dubois migrated to Massachusetts in the 19th century, or since our ancestors started to build the culture of New Orleans in the 18th century. Our mother land Haiti had given birth to famous people like James Audubon. Thomas Alexandre Dumas, distinguished general in the French Revolution army, the father of playwright and author of Three Musketeers, Alexandre Dumas Sr. is among many world famous born in Haiti .

Dear brothers and sisters, let's come, meet, talk and rejoice because a city that our ancestor Jean Baptiste Pointe du Sable founded had produced two 21rst century FIRSTS - first Black governor of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick and first African American president of the United States- Barack Obama.

Let's meet and make our voices heard. You choose the location(s), write back and send to the forum, blog of your choice.

P.S. My ideal is a Cross/Cultural dialogue with other groups. However, as Haitians we have not really talked among ourselves on issues that affect our community, or our involvement and civic participation in this country. Hence I think , it's more appropriate that we set small Town Hall style Meetings among ourselves, for now. Regions or groups that have already been engaged in previous cross cultural conversations may continue to do do so.
