RE: Haitian Dominican Problem

Gwozago - March 9 2009, 4:30 PM

I'm afraid that the Haitiano/Dominican issues are far more than a problem of the poor vs the poorer as you had suggested it. & there should be no comparison to relations in those north American countries. They are irrelevant. But Let me remind you that inspite of all the known animosities toward little Mexicans in the States, there isn't a history between the two nations reminding people that, once, Mexican descents who were already living in the now known US territories, acquired either by cessession or after the Mexican wars, were slaughtered by an American mad man head of state because of their skin colour, or nationality.

& There are no Mexicans in concentration (bateys)like camps in the US. American children are not specifically taught, raised to hate Mexicans with all of their mights that Dominican society does toward Haitians.

Mexican look alikes are not harassed in American streets, as Dominicans do to anyone who look Blacks being suspected as being Haitian.

Something that might warrant a deportation or even losing one's life.

Now don't get me wrong RAOUL, I don't have anything personal against you, or any other Haitian with perception similar to yours on these burning issues where ours have always been the eternal victims of Dominican barbaric acts on a daily basis, for I know, & sadly realize that blacks don't value other blacks lives,& being their brothers keepers, is the last think the average black man is raised to think about.

So, once most blacks have money of their own to spend that will allow them access to some sort of services from others, even their brothers' enemies, they often say hell with having some reserve, or looking out for my brothers.

Just like you said it,"you got money to spend, dominicans treat you good".

They (Dominicans) ain't no dummies.

Guess who is the dummy to them?

The previous generations of Haitians going back 50 yrs ago, have made the catastrophic mistakes that allow things to be the way they current are. But what most of you are now accepting, tolerating are normal, aren't short from being shameful in the eyes of other decent earthians.

It's up to you and I to fight to change it all. Perception is reality, we all can work on our own corner with our own personal ressources, & fight for a change.

That's not only the right thing to do, but also our moral responsibility.
