Out of the devastation after the earthquake, Miss Bertin represented Haiti for the first time in 21 years in the Miss Universe pageant. There she took 3rd place and became internationally recognized for her courage, grace, and advocacy on behalf of the people of Haiti.

She brings pride to Haitians everywhere and serves as a role-model to youth in hardship through her messages of overcoming adversity and loss. Miss Bertin exemplifies the next generation of Haitian leaders in her work in development and is currently studying law. She continues to advocate for necessities for her community and can speak to the ongoing needs a community faces post-disaster, whether they be in Haiti, New Zealand, or Japan.
