Dear Compatriots & Friends of Haiti

The SimactFoundation, unlike most NGOs operating in Haiti, deals directly with localities where specific needs are identified and quick solutions are applied. We are the philanthropic arm of Simact, Inc. committed to improve the quality of life for the residents of Jacmel where the bulk of our investments is concentrated.

To date, we have, through our meager means, provide ambulances, 2 of them are still awaiting shipping because of lack of funds, a powerful generator capable of providing emergency back-up for the entire city was acquired (to be shipped eventually). In the past, we organized summer youth programs, contributed to the maintenance of a soccer field and sponsored soccer championship. We want to do much more and would like to have a budget to do the followings:

1- Medical externship..In collaboration with our sister organization, AMHE FOUNDATION we want to expand our sponsorship program started 3 years ago through which we bring 2 to 3 young Haitian physicians from Haiti (by providing affidavid of support to the American embassy for special visas) every 3 months for an observership at our affiliated Brooklyn Hospital Center. To date, we have sponsored more than 15 such medical residents. Our hope is to extend it to include other affiliated hospitals and many more residents from Haiti.

2- School transportation...The kids from the neighboring communities have to walk a long way to attend public school in the city of Jacmel. The gift of a school bus is part of our budget for this year. In addition, selected students for school tuition, funds allocationfor food and health check-ups are part of our overall plan.

3- In collaboration with Public-Private Alliance Foundation, an American Foundation recently partnering with Simact, we will tackle the greater priorities such as "affordable housing" that extends to a sister city in dire needs, LEOGANE, the rebuilding of the collapsed hospital, resumption of the air traffic to Jacmel in association with our sister organization, Vision Air, founded by one of the Founding Simact members, Dr R. Clerisme.

Please, support our first fund-raising event on JUNE 19 AT THE GRAND PROSPECT HALL IN PARK SLOPE, NEW YORK. If you cannot attend, go to our site...www.simactfoundation.org and pledge one ticket ($250) as a contribution to the city of Jacmel...your name will be published on a list to be distributed at the event. Remember, most NGOs, because of huge administrative costs can only pass less than 50% of donations to the people in need...SimactFoundation tackles the needs directly. Hence, our vision as an organization is to "PROVIDE MEANS TO ACHIEVE, OPPORTUNITIES TO LIVE AND REASONS TO DREAM"
