I respect your opinion, but think with me if you will. Haiti is sharing an island with another country that speaks Spanish.
Why do you think the power that be further enforce that useless language they call French in Haiti.
The obvious answer is to further keep them in that same state of underdeveloped and dependent for the rest of their lives.
As part of the new Haiti, I hope we can seriously partner with other Spanish speaking nations in the Hemisphere to get out of this mess. To empower the Haiti, Haitian should think seriously about learning Spanish and doing so really fast.

I AGREE WITH ALL OF YOUR POINTS EXCEPT THE SPANISH SPEAKING PART .
I HATE THE SPANISH LANGUAGE, IT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT OF BEES FLYING AROUND, INSTEAD OF EMPHASIZING ON ANOTHER FOREIGN LANGUAGE, WHAT DON'T WE STRENGTHEN OUR OWN LANGUAGE I.E CREOLE.
AS YOU CAN SEE FOR YOURSELF EVERY DEVELOPED NATION HAS ONE FUNDAMENTAL LANGUAGE OF WHOM THEY ALL COMMUNICATE, NOT MULTIPLE LANGUAGES, I DO NOT BEGRUDGE ANYONE FROM SPEAKING OR LEARNING ANOTHER LANGUAGE, BUT DON'T THINK ANOTHER LANGUAGE IS GOING TO TAKE US ANYWHERE.
I AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT GETTING RID OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE, IT IS USELESS, THAT IS WHY IT IS THE PREFERRED LANGUAGE OF THE "MRE" MORALLY REPUGNANT ELITES OF HAITI, THAT ENJOY ROBBING ELBOW WITH THE FOREIGN DIPLOMATS, SPENDING MONEY IN EL RANCHO CASINO TRYING TO IMPRESS THOSE DIPLOMATS, WHILE THEIR COMPATRIOT ARE EATING "MUD CAKE" DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS TO BUY FOODS.
THINKING THEY ARE ACTUALLY MAKING FRIENDS WITH THE DIPLOMATS, ONCE THEY LEAVE THE DIPLOMATS ARE MAKING FUN OF THEM OF BEING IDIOTS, CALLING THEM "MRE"

I certainly do agree with all those suggestions; they are great ideas.
Now the big question is, who is well equipped, trust worthy and capable enough to take on this massive work of rebuilding and restoring haiti.
we are going to need men and women of integrity and have proven to be reliable thru their record in public service.
we've had enough with the "grand manjeur who just want to come Plain poche yo e puis bat zel yo. There's gonna have to be a committee in charge of holding people accountable for every dollar spent.

GREAT PLAN MY FRIEND.
We need more Haitians like you with great ideas.

The first step will be to change the Haitian mentality.
2) You must raise the collective consciousness of Haitians.
3) Teach individual man and woman in Haiti, and the diaspora that his/her own fate was linked to that of the group.
4) Make them understand the concept that started in African, and continues today there or in some deep country sides in Haiti.
"IT TAKES A VILLAGE".
This is what has been sustaining the survival of the the Black race in general, but got loss somewhere over the years.
EX: It is your duty to bring Haitians to your jobs, and tell all your brothers or sister where to get something that will benefits them if you know about it (like the latinos).
As for you it is not right to get a person fired who brought you to their job, and put a good word for you there.
This dog eats dog is a white people mentality, and somewhere blacks pick it up. It is not OK.
We need to learn about forgiveness, and control our acidic tongues.
It is an epidemic in our communities.
You can kill, destroy, and do so much harm with your words.
Control your tongues.
THERE WILL NOT BE ANY AMOUNT OF FOREIGN ASSISTANCE THAT CAN HELP HAITI UNTIL OUR MENTALITIES CHANGE.
We do not have a good attitude, and do not care about each other.
We should have learned while living in different countries all over the world for years, but we are worst than ever. Haitians need to observe the Chinese, Latinos, et...
If a Puerto Rican is a supervisor at a job he will bring as many Puerto Ricans that he possibly can, and they will not cause him trouble or his job even if they do not like him anymore.
YOU ARE YOUR BROTHER'S KEEPER.
I could go on, and on. I am going to stop for now, and tend to get carried away when it comes to my country or people.
THE GOODS BROUGHT TO HAITI TO FEED THE POOR ARE ALREADY BEING SOLD ALL OVER THE PLACE WHILE CHILDREN, AND PREGNANT WOMEN ARE STARVING.
THE YOUNG MEN INSTEAD OF PROTECTING, CLEANING, AND ORGANIZING ARE TAKING FROM THE WEAKS (OLD, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN).
WAREHOUSES ARE GETTING FULL FOR BLACK MARKETS, AND THE ONES WITH CONNECTIONS INTEND TO BECOME MORE WEALTHY AT THE EXPENSES OF THE DEADS.
THEY WILL BUY MANSIONS IN GATED COMMUNITIES IN MIAMI, OR OTHER PLACES.
THEY WILL BUY THE LATEST SUVS FOR THEIR WIVES, CHILDREN, AND MANY GIRLFRIENDS.
THEY HAVE BOATS, AND THE BIGGEST SWIMMING POOLS.
THEY TRAVEL ALL OVER THE WORLD, AND SEND THEIR KIDS TO THE BEST PRIVATE SCHOOLS.
THEY HIDE THEIR FORTUNES IN EUROPEAN BANKS STOLEN FROM THE POOR, AND THE SICK. THEY ARE MAKING SURE THAT THEIR CHILDREN ARE EDUCATED, SO THEY CAN REPLACE THEIR PARENTS AND BE BETTER CROOKS.
They still did not get the message after this tragedy, and GOD will have to strike them dead or kill their first borns like he did with the Egyptians for them to get it.
I know what I am talking about, and spent the first 16 years of my life in Haiti.
I have seen rice, oil, and other items sold in stores marked DONATION FROM AMERICA.

Hi, thanks for this discussion.
I also wanted to say that Anderson Cooper is back in Haiti and will be giving insights into what is going on there now. Thought this might be helpful for those interested.
He'll be on CNN at 10pm (rerun at 11pm).

All the things that you said are great idea. I would like to add that what we need the most is a change in the haitian memtality.
We need to learn to respect the people in power and to express our voice through legal mean. No more coup d'etat.
We need to respect other people's property when we disagree.
We stand to stand as one (our motto is L'union fait la force) and said no to corruption so that the powerful would think about furthering the nation and not just themselves.
Having said this, I believe that in general we are a good, and kind people who are being pulled to the gutter by the few. We need to dispell the negative images that associate with us as haitian by speaking for our people where ever we are in the world.
Last, we need to rebuild this country, we can do that by investing seriously in our country and I strongly believe that agriculture is the way though most haitians have abandon this way of life to go live in absolute poverty in the cities.
If people are not in the city to pursue an education or have a decent job then they need to go back LAKAY.
