Event Details

On behalf of the Haitian Professionals of Philadelphia (HPP), We cordially invite you to attend our annual charity gala in celebration of Haitian Flag Day on Saturday, May 18, 2013 starting at 6:30pm at the African American Museum in Philadelphia.

Since 1803, the Haitian Flag has symbolized the resiliency of African descendant peoples and the epic slave revolt that gave birth to the first modern Black Republic, while providing a blueprint for revolution that was adopted by oppressed people of color throughout the world. This year's theme, The First Black Republic: Maintaining a Legacy of Freedom, will highlight the spirit of unity, pride, and the legacy of freedom embodied by the Haitian Revolution and the African Diaspora at large. The event will feature a number of community leaders, advocates and prominent voices committed to empowering the developing world. Most importantly this event will serve as a fundraiser and 100% of the profits from the event will go to the Haitian Professionals of Philadelphia Haiti Relief Fund.
